The City of Arlington Texas has implemented an ordinance to regulate short term rentals that includes zoning restrictions on where short-term rentals are allowed, a permitting process, and restrictions on activities allowed at short-term rentals in Arlington.
With respect to taxes, the state of Texas requires a 6% Hotel and Occupancy Tax (HOT) on short-term rentals which is automatically submitted by some short-term rental platforms e.g. Airbnb. The City of Arlington requires an additional 9% tax on short-term rentals which must be mailed to the city monthly or quarterly depending on your quarterly earnings.
